Universal Health Coverage

“Universal health coverage is the single most powerful concept that public health has to offer”

Dr Margaret Chan, Address to the Sixty-fifth World Health Assembly, May 2012

Universal Health Coverage (UHC) has been recommended by international bodies like, World Health organization and also been adapted by a number of low- and middle income countries (LMICS) as a strong mechanism for facilitating quality comprehensive healthcare for all people at an affordable cost. While Bangladesh appreciates the idea of UHC, only few steps have been taken in this regard. A common understanding about UHC is important to develop among research and academic community, civil society, operational partners (Public, private and NGOs) for working together for achieving universal health coverage.

Through research, advocacy, networking and partnership, and capacity building, faith Bangladesh nurtures innovation on how to redress inequities in health and promote UHC in Bangladesh. Our focus is on health economics, health system management and their implications in establishing UHC. We encourage public, private and NGO sectors cooperation to optimize impact while fostering equity and innovation in health system research. faith Bangladesh is uniquely positioned to interact with the leaders and policy makers in the health sector and related sectors as well as with the community people.

faith Bangladesh, has embarked on collaboration and joint learning to promote UHC. Alongside working with group of advisors from academia, civil society, and the public and private sectors we explore several critical dimensions of the move towards universal health coverage including the key governance challenges at the interface of the health economy, health system management and the drive towards achieving UHC.

We contribute to expand UHC by generating essential evidence and guide the policies and programs to implement reforms for attaining UHC goal, and facilitate effective monitoring and evaluation. faith Bangladesh is dedicated to conduct advocacy and dialogue among multi-disciplinary stakeholders, and training activities to promote UHC in Bangladesh.
