Capacity Building
icddr,b and faith Bangladesh are organizing Training of trainers (ToT) since 2014. faith Bangladesh have online booking system for children with disability. icddr,b and faith Bangladesh conducted a training project on Primary eye care for Rural medical practionars (RMPs) in collaboration with orbis international. They have trained 207 RMPs from 47 districts. Every year global students visit faith Bangladesh as a part of their academic field experience programs.
Service Delivery for Children with Disability
faith Bangladesh supports innovative solutions for disability including services, products, trainings and technologies, that improve the health and livelihood of people living in resource-poor communities in Bangladesh with different stakeholders. faith Bangladesh is developing trained and highly skilled academically sound bachelors in clinical speech and language therapy and providing disability care. Highly qualified graduates in clinical occupational therapy are in services for children with disability in faith Bangladesh. Guided by its strategic plan, faith Bangladesh, consolidates evidence-based information on existing disability related innovative solutions and advocacy for a scalable model of innovative solutions, and builds capacity of resource-poor communities, stakeholders and partners. faith Bangladesh also empowers parents and help the children with disability.
School Based Program
faith Bangladesh organized school based program to assess physical, behavioral and functional development of special and children with disability and aware their parents.
Workshop
The partnership of icddr,b’s training unit with faith Bangladesh has resulted in three workshops targeting relevant stakeholders in the treatment of autism, including clinical and language therapists, teachers of special needs schools, psychologists and occupational therapists.
Poster Presentation
As a joint initiative of faith Bangladesh and icddr’b, two poster presentations has been done in the International Conference on Autism and Neurodevelopmental Disorders hosted by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of Bangladesh, Ministry of Health of Bhutan with the technical support of Shuchona Foundation (previously known as Global Autism), Ability Bhutan Society (ABS), and World Health Organization South-East Asia Regional Office, from the 19-21st April, 2017.
Health Care Symposium
faith Bangladesh and icddr,b jointly organized Health Care Symposium 2016 Rural Medical Practitioner: Improving knowledge for quality health care. icddr,b and Faith Bangladesh conduct community based program at hard to reach rural areas to create awareness and screen special children for early intervention.
Scientific Seminar & Public Health Foundation Day
faith Bangladesh celebrated Public Health Foundation Day and organized a Scientific Seminar in collaboration with Public Health Foundation of Bangladesh.
Publications
As an outcome of the collaboration, faith Bangladesh and icddr’b published two articles during 2017 in the peer reviewed journals entitled
1. ‘Autism Spectrum disorders (ASD) in South Asia: a systematic review’ and
2. ‘Suicide and depression in the World Health Organization South-East Asia Region: a systematic review’.
